Cardon Design explains how UK retirement money actually works — the State Pension, the tax that attaches to it, workplace pensions and the entitlements alongside them — in plain English, using the official published figures.
Who publishes this site
Cardon Design is published as sponsored content by AOS OÜ, a private limited company registered in Estonia. The full company and contact details are on the imprint.
This website is not operated by or affiliated with the Department for Work and Pensions, HM Revenue & Customs, the Pension Service, the Money and Pensions Service or any other UK government body or regulator. Where we refer to an official figure or rule, we link to the government page it comes from so you can read it at source.
How the explainers are written
Four rules govern everything on the site.
Official figures, named and dated. Every rate we publish is the official published figure for the stated financial year, and the source is listed at the foot of the article. Where we do arithmetic on an official figure, we label it as an illustration and say what it assumes.
No personal calculations. We do not and cannot work out what anybody is entitled to. Entitlement depends on an individual record held by DWP, and only DWP can confirm it.
The qualifications stay in. Most confusion about pensions comes from a headline figure stripped of its conditions. We keep the conditions, even when it makes an article longer.
Everything is free to read in full. No article is gated, shortened or held back behind a signup. The weekly email is optional and asks only for an email address.
What we do not do
We do not sell or broker pensions, annuities, insurance, investments or any other financial product.
We do not give regulated financial advice or make personal recommendations. The difference between free guidance and regulated advice is explained in where retirement help is free, and where it costs.
We do not charge for anything, and we do not take referral commission from financial firms.
We do not ask for pension details, National Insurance numbers, bank details or dates of birth. Nobody acting for this site will ever ask you for them — see the pension messages that never come from DWP.
Bylines
Articles are published under the byline “Cardon Design editorial desk”. We do not invent named authors or photographs of journalists. Where an article has been updated after publication, the date shown is the date of that version.
Corrections
If you believe something on this site is wrong or out of date, please tell us at info@cardondesign.com. Official rates change at least annually and we would rather correct a figure than leave it. Include the page and, if you can, the official source.
Where to go for your own position
This site cannot answer a question about your own entitlement. These can:
Your State Pension, and an existing award — the Pension Service, via GOV.UK.
This site is sponsored content from AOS OÜ. It is general information about public pension and benefit rules. It is not personal pension, tax or financial advice, nothing is sold here, and no provider is recommended.
